My neutral role as therapist with the family may be compromised in situations where litigation occurs and I am asked to testify or am deposed as an expert witness (as in the case of child custody/access disputes).
If you believe my testimony in court may be necessary it is imperative that you inform me at the onset of treatment. My primary function is to address the best interest of the child/children and not to align myself with either parent. We will need to discuss this in detail so that you have a clear understanding of the implications of this fact.
There is $500.00 non-refundable charge for the first three hour block of time (including preparation time), which must be received prior to testimony or deposition. Each hour beyond the first three will be billed at $125.00 per hour. The party whose lawyer issues the subpoena for my testimony will be responsible for expenses incurred. No testimony will be provided without a subpoena. It is your responsibility to communicate this policy to your attorney.
